AMT Show

The Amish Experience theater and Amish country homestead

  • The Amish Experience Theater
Only the third experiential theatre in America, our state-of-the-art technology and a three-dimensional barnyard setting puts each student into a “400 year old story told in 40 minutes of magic.”  Carefully researched and dramatically presented, the timeless story portrays an Amish teenager who, perhaps like the students themselves, is experiencing a generation gap with his family.  He struggles with having to choose between his traditional Amish values and the allure of the modern world.  As he reflects on the sacrifices of his immigrant ancestors who sailed to the New World to escape religious persecution, the story comes alive with “Pepper’s Ghost” special effects and thunderous surround sound of the stormy seas.  (40 minutes, shows on the hour)
  • The Amish Country Homestead
Back in the country, completed surrounded by real Amish farms. There are two reasons this is the ONLY Amish house tour designated a “Heritage Site” in Lancaster County: Authenticity - the “lived-in” look of an Amish house today as you walk through nine rooms. Interpretation - your guide answers the “how” and “why” questions that baffle students (and teachers)! Why do they dress that way? How do they operate their refrigerator? How do they wash clothes with a gasoline engine? And yes, you may play with the marble rollers! (40 minutes)
